Very enjoyable. The scenes in the north when Henry VIII's household set up shop are really well done, exploring the tension in the kingdom, and the meeting between the king and Shardlake packs a real punch, and is rightly referred to in later books, as it has long ramifications. Tasked with taking a prisoner from the harried North back to London, things inevitably go wrong.
Shardlake is back with a bang.
