Equally strong, but never the same kind of hit - We all fall in love sometimes, also deserves a mention as another track that you couldn't imagine being song by any-one else. Thats a shame, because from the first track to the last, this album doesn't disappoint and delivers a phenomenally impactful and powerful musical anthem for its time. It deserves the attention and consideration of a classic piece of work and if you can do that, you will really appreciate how good it is. They then go on to absolutely deliver a proper rock classic thumper - Meal Ticket - which if it doesn't get your foot tapping and playing the air drums - nothing will!

My recommendation is buy it in vinyl format as its worth the money just to look at the cover, but whatever your chosen listening mode is - but please put the time aside to listen to it. I like all the tracks on this album such as Bitter fingers, someone saved my life tonight, better off dead, we all fall in love sometimes, curtains and Lucy in the sky with diamonds. This album plays like an album should do - you put it on and you listen for 50 minutes letting your mind wander and you ears be entertained with all types of instruments and acoustic accompaniments washing over you, so that after you have played it, you could just put it back on again - its not a boring album! Enjoy Captain Fantastic and the Dirt Brown Cowboy - its still a hot album after 45 years and is a key piece of any decent music collection!

The album makes the Rolling Stones Top 500 list at number 158, but is in my top 3 and I play it at least once a month and intend to make it one of the top 10 albums I will make my grand-children listen to as part of their musical education. It's conclusion, it arrived in perfect condition and on time, it has the lyrics of the songs too, I recommend it if you are a fan of Elton John 👏👏💯 The album is topped off by one of the best album covers *(Alan Aldridge) you are likely to see and the intricate details show that your imagination was your best "app" for creativity. Moving on there is evidence of Bernie's lyrical genius in Bitter Fingers - "its hard to write a song with bitter fingers, so much to prove to few to tell you why, those old die-hards in Denmark street start laughing at the keyboard players hollow-haunted eyes" and the Tower or Babel "see the letches crawl, with the call girls under the table, watch em dig their graves, cause jesus don't save the guys in the tower of babel".

From the opening track we are hooked with fantastic musical craft and the title track is a great opener to give you a feel of whats about to come with great guitar work, clear orchestration and melody that is unlike most title tracks of albums which tend to be disappointing and stuck in as an after thought. The album is also christened with one of Elton's biggest hits - Someone saved my life tonight which in its original form is a beautifully tempo'd track and shines well as part of the compilation.

Having grown up in the super-creative time of 70's and 80's artists *(ELO, Fleetwood Mac, Supertramp, CSN etc), this album is often over-looked for the more popular Goodbye Yellow Brick Road or Don't Shoot Me, I am the Piano Player as the high point of Elton and Bernie's creative capabilities. It is one of my favorite music albums, I consider it as one of the best albums of Elton John, Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy.
