Quite simply, 3/4 of the population turned their backs on it for other formats: from vinyl to CD, from cd to mp3, from mp3 to decomposed music sold for each of these formats, supposedly for superior qualities, but yet the reference for decades has indeed been vinyl and it will remain so. Moreover, vinyl has never come back since it has never even started a false belief. !
Music Lover
In SACD I only have one album (The Dark Side of the Moon 30th Anniversary Edition by Pink Floyd with a glossy blue cover, a booklet with unpublished images, etc. 5mm jack, and if you have a “dedicated” sound card (PCIe) it's better !

Record pops loudly and skips in both spots, but does play through both spots also and doesn’t repeat skip. Vinyl and automatic watches of quality, precision and longevity.

So cd, svcd OK but the best format (Audio/HI-FI) in terms of longevity and quality is vinyl, that has been amply proven and its history proves it. (so when we talk about original mastering! Leaving aside also “labels” and musical genres, until recently I had only one Dire Straits album (Love over Gold, bought about fifteen years ago) and which I didn't like very much at first, except now rediscover it and that I recommend to everyone.

Album with lyrics on the covers. I recently “found” their first recording effort (Dire Straits, in a remastered version). The 5. The episode was called “Ghost Hunt” and was part of the second season.
Luck
(it's logical if you think about it) This is why the groove per side has much more room to make the stilus vibrate and that's really not negligible for better sound reproduction. )

Reading on the last cover, you need - of course - a SACD player and - optional - also a compatible Multi-Channel system to fully appreciate its sound quality. Now it's better to have two vinyl records with two pieces per side for better sound quality than to have 6 to 7 pieces per side on a more compressed groove, as at the time. Indeed, if you put the price into your equipment and take care of it, pay attention to the adjustment and respect the manufacturer's revisions, you will train your equipment for life. A classic, everyone should have the album.
